With Dyna-Sys, Shimano presents a completely new drive technology for mountain bikes. This revolutionary system also features a 10-speed cassette compared to previous models, but this feature only makes up a very small part of the new Dyna-Sys concept. Rather, Dyna-Sys presents itself as a completely newly developed drive system that brings the user, i.e. the driver, real, noticeable added value and additional benefits.
Weight: approx. 350 grams (11-36 teeth)
Gradation : 11-13-15-17-19-21-23-26-30-34 or 11-13-15-17-19-21-24-28-32-36
Completely new drive system
To significantly increase efficiency and achieve a remarkable level of reliability, Shimano has improved the standard drive system setup. While previously a chainring gradation on the crank of 44-32-22 teeth in conjunction with a 9-speed cassette was standard, the new cranksets will have a gradation of 42-32-24, while the rear gearing is standard on a 10-speed cassette becomes.
1. Improved efficiency
- A 10-speed HG cassette offers the advantage that the rider can move for even longer and in even more riding situations at the front on the middle chainring with 32 teeth, which is already the most commonly used chainring. If the point is reached at some point where you have to switch to the small front, this step is now significantly less violent thanks to the new 24-tooth configuration. Similarly, switching to the large chainring, which now has 42 teeth, also means a smaller and therefore more comfortable shifting step than before, which will mean that MTB riders of all kinds will choose the large chainring even more often in the future.
- With previous systems, the driver was forced to downshift at the front to maintain a stable pedaling with two or three "compensating shifts" at the rear. With Dyna-Sys, this need can be reduced to just one rear compensation circuit.
- Dyna-Sys turns downshifting to the small chainring into an almost stepless shifting process, which ensures stable, consistent power transmission at a constant cadence.
2. Remarkable durability and resilience
- A brand new, directional, MTB-specific 10-speed chain ensures easier shifting, lower weight and a general increase in performance.
- Narrower gear increments result in smaller shift steps. The result is that the chain functions even more efficiently, while at the same time reducing the risk of the chain “jumping off”.
- A tighter cable routing and a shorter rear derailleur cage make the system less susceptible to dirt, vibrations or suspension influences.
