At first glance, the BL-M9120 Servo-Wave brake lever has hardly changed from its predecessors. From a technical point of view, the master piston and mechanics were largely adopted from the M9020. However, the suspension of the lever has been fundamentally revised. The wider clamp in the middle of the lever not only creates more space for attaching remote levers, it also offers significantly more rigidity. In combination with a support for the master piston on the handlebars, the brake lever offers a significantly more direct braking feel. According to Shimano, this design enabled stiffness and braking power to be increased by 10% and responsiveness to be achieved 30% faster. For optimal accessibility, the reach of the lever can be adjusted without tools.
